The Illusion Behind Treecoy: Smarter Decoying
When you mount the Treecoy head flush to a tree trunk, a passing deer does not register a missing body. Whitetails constantly scan timber where sightlines are broken by trees and brush. When their vision catches a realistic head and ear posture protruding from behind a trunk, their brain naturally completes the picture, assuming the rest of the deer is standing concealed right behind the tree.
Why It Outperforms Traditional Decoys
-
Ultra-Lightweight and Silent
Mounts directly to virtually any tree in under a minute. No bulky plastic shells, no cumbersome field stakes, and zero noise when stalking into your stand.
-
Natural Woodsmanship
Traditional decoys look unnatural standing frozen in the open. A deer peeking from behind timber replicates natural browsing and cautious behavior, putting incoming bucks and does at ease.
-
Perfect Shot Placement
By positioning Treecoy on the opposite side of your shooting lane, you draw the animal focus away from your tree stand and position them for a clear, broadside or quartering-away shot.
HOW TO USE THE TREECOY DECOY
If you have ever lugged a full-body decoy through thick timber before dawn, you already know the frustration: heavy plastic, noisy setup, clanking stakes, and the sketchy feeling of carrying a deer carcass silhouette on your back.
The Treecoy eliminates those headaches using a simple optical illusion grounded in whitetail biology.
Step 1: Select a tree
Ensure the tree is large enough to create the illusion that the deer body could be hidden behind the trunk.
Step 2: Secure the treecoy
Wrap: Bring the strap or cord completely around the tree trunk.
Lock: Feed the line through the middle first, then through the end of the tensioner and pull to remove all slack.
Tighten: Pull firmly to lock the tensioner in place, drawing the flat back flush against the bark.
Step 3: Lock extra rope
While pulling the rope tight, make sure to loop any additional rope length behind the taught line. This additional step ensures a strong hold even on the windiest days.
